Are you where you thought you would be and how did you get there?
No one is ever sure they will be where they want to be throughout life or at retirement. However, if you Dare to Dream where you want to be, it is just your reality waiting to happen.
I dreamed of going to college and becoming an entrepreneur throughout my high school years. Strong work ethics, my values, craving for a better life for my family and support of family and friends helped me achieved my goals.
How have you evolved over the years?
Once I became an entrepreneur, I experienced the hardships of what it’s like to struggle for financial freedom, discrimination, acceptance in a workforce dominated by men and the value of time. As a result of those struggles, I developed a passion for wanting to give back to the community. I founded Tomorrow’s Future, Inc. (a mentoring, entrepreneur and training program for teens) and I am a mentor to other entrepreneurs such as my daughter, members of my Team and other community members. For a better community, we must contribute to making a difference
What would you tell other women about overcoming obstacles?
I would tell other women to believe in themselves. Know that you have what it takes to make it and follow your dreams. Surround yourself with supportive friends, family, join organizations that will help further your causes and support those that support you. Embrace organizations like Onyx Woman Network that are always trying to present women of color in a positive light and presents a lot of supportive services.
