2020 Onyx Woman Leadership Awards Honoree: Debbie Norrell Gets the Word Out with Style and Substance

Debbie Norrell
Media Professional

Are you where you thought you would be and how did you get there?

The short answer is yes. I thought I would be retired from my day job at this point but without a crystal ball, I was not sure how the rest of my life would look. Things have worked out pretty much how I planned. As for how I got here I did the things that I was passionate about and thought I could succeed at doing. It worked!

What was the bravest thing you have done that got you where you are today?

The bravest thing that I have done was leaving Mellon Bank at 40 years old and starting a career in radio at WAMO. That was the catalyst for my life in the media. It was one of the best choices that I have ever made.

What does receiving the Onyx Woman Leadership Award mean to you?

It means that you have noticed the things that I have done and perhaps my experiences can encourage someone else to pursue their dreams and make them a reality.

Join Debbie Norrell and other dynamic women for a celebration of excellence on Thursday, May 7, at Rodef Shalom in Oakland. Click on the link to register: https://thenewnetworktv.com/vip-onyx-woman-leadership-award/
