Get the picture! Invest in a professional photo

Ola JacksonAs a magazine publisher for almost two decades, I have been sent almost every type of head-shot imaginable: overly seductive photos, photos that include other people whose heads were cut out, or even photos where women are hugging up their man. Yes, these were all photos that women expected me to print in my magazine.

We live in a world where image is everything. If you can take the time to build a professional web site, create a well-polished set of business cards, prepare an excellent marketing package, then you should take just as much time—and money—to assure that your professional head-shot represents your brand in a way that reflects who you are and how you want to be seen.

Selfies are fun, and okay to accompany stories, but when it comes to presenting a polished image, it’s time to go to a reputable photographer and allow them to take a photo worthy of the credibility you want to establish for yourself.
